Benjamin Pavard: Potential Transfer Target for Man Utd?

Manchester United are reportedly in the market for a new right-back and Benjamin Pavard of Bayern Munich has emerged as a potential target, according to Football Insider. While Bayer Leverkusen’s Jeremie Frimpong remains United's primary target, they are believed to be monitoring Pavard's situation, and could make a move for him if they lose out on Frimpong to Bayern Munich.

Pavard, who is valued at £31m by Transfermarkt, is also reportedly attracting interest from Real Madrid and Manchester City, which could make it a difficult battle for United. The 27-year-old has less than 18 months left on his current contract with Bayern Munich, making him an attractive target for other clubs.

Pavard has been an important player for Bayern Munich since joining them from VfB Stuttgart in 2019. He has made over 150 appearances for the club, winning three Bundesliga titles, four domestic cups, and a Champions League trophy. He also played a crucial role in France’s World Cup-winning campaign in 2018.

While Pavard is a top-rated right-back, it appears that United's first-choice target is Frimpong. According to reports, United are prepared to pay £50m for the Dutchman's signature, and he is believed to be at the top of United manager Erik ten Hag's wish list.

Frimpong has impressed since joining Bayer Leverkusen from Celtic in January 2021, making 57 appearances for the club so far. His performances have attracted interest from several top clubs, including Bayern Munich and Tottenham Hotspur.

If United do manage to secure the signing of Frimpong, it could spell the end for Aaron Wan-Bissaka at Old Trafford. Wan-Bissaka, who joined United from Crystal Palace in 2019 for a fee of around £50m, has fallen out of favour under ten Hag and could be sold in the summer.

In conclusion, Manchester United are reportedly in the market for a new right-back, and Benjamin Pavard of Bayern Munich has emerged as a potential target. While Frimpong remains United's primary target, Pavard's situation is being monitored and could be a backup option if they miss out on Frimpong. It remains to be seen who United will sign in the summer, but it's clear that they are looking to strengthen their squad in several areas.
