La Liga: Why Real Madrid Lost to Villarreal at Santiago Bernabeu - Ancelotti
In a post-match interview after Real Madrid's 3-2 loss against Villarreal on Saturday, Carlo Ancelotti, the team's coach, revealed the reason behind the defeat. According to Ancelotti, Real Madrid lost because they lacked the balance they had in recent games. He mentioned that their performance level had dropped compared to the previous season.
Villarreal took the lead with a brace from Samuel Chukwueze and a goal from Jose Luis Morales, and Real Madrid's two goals were not enough to secure a win. Ancelotti stated during the post-match press conference that despite having numerous opportunities to score, the team lacked consistency, and they could have played much better.
While acknowledging that his team did not deserve to lose, Ancelotti emphasized the need for balance in their games. He said, "Physically, the team is fine, and having so many chances, we didn't really deserve to lose, but we lacked the balance we've had in recent games. We took the lead on two occasions and should have been more consistent." He added, "Our level in the league has dropped compared to last year."
Real Madrid's next fixture is against Chelsea in the Champions League on Wednesday, and the team will need to bounce back from the loss to Villarreal to keep their European dreams alive.
